An increasing audience is coming to regard listening to the radio on the Internet as an everyday experience. It is thus to be expected that TechniSat would also increase its activities in this field.
The InternetRadio 1 is ready for use virtually instantly, all you need to do is to connect it to the power supply and to your own network. The radio comes supplied with a helpful installation assistant that automatically recognises an existing LAN. Any required network data (IP, router, gateway) can be conveniently entered using the remote control unit supplied.
When you have completed the configuration, all the radio stations broadcasting their contents via the Internet can be received, and which are contained in a comprehensive programme list maintained by TechniSat, and reproduced via the side-mounted loudspeaker boxes. The stations are listed in an easy-to-use format, sorted by genre or country. In total, the programme list includes 33 countries with the respective radio stations, alphabetically sorted. For each country (from Belgium to the USA) you can select from between 1 and 209 radio stations.
The blue LCD display will show various information, dependent on the channel (e.g. station resp. programme name, song title, mono or stereo sound, transmission rate in kbps, Internet address). If the text to be displayed exceeds the available width of the display, the text will be scrolled. The peripheral sections of the display are reserved for specific status information (signal strength resp. LAN on the left, buffer status on the right).
Preferred channels can be stored in memory on one of the ten available memory slots. In this case, navigation is done via the arrow keys on the remote control.
Sound can be reproduced either via the two detachable loudspeakers of the InternetRadio 1, or via a television set or a stereo set. The InternetRadio 1 comes complete with the appropriate connection options and sockets.
Music anywhere in your home A further impressive feature is the support provided for the UPnP standard (Universal Plug & Play) which allows you to control components of different manufacturers via the network. If you install the appropriate connections in your home, music files in ASX, M3U, MP3, WAV, WAX or WMA9 formats can be distributed from the computer via your home network to the InternetRadio 1. This is a particularly useful feature in many cases, e.g. if you would like to listen to your own personal MP3 collection without being restricted to a particular room. All you need to utilise this feature, and to enjoy your own home network web radio is to download a software programme obtainable on the Internet free of charge. |
